Ratings more than double for Thursday Night Football compared to last year
CBS began its inaugural season doing Thursday Night Football with a bang.
Ratings for Thursday night's game, a Ravens 26-6 win over the Steelers, were up by 108 percent compared to last year's Thursday night opener from NFL Network. NFL Network and CBS are now sharing coverage of the Thursday night games.
The Ravens-Steelers game, though a one-sided affair, received a household rating/share of 13.7/23, which was 108 percent greater than the Jets-Patriots game in Week 2 on NFL Network a year ago. That game received a 6.6/12 household rating/share.
In addition, CBS saw a 215 percent increase in vieweship from the prime time programming it had on Sept. 12, 2013.
It's clear that even when the NFL is facing one of its worse controversies in the Ray Rice case, that the league is still king when it comes to the American public.
