Ravens awarded Jimmy Clausen off waivers, place Joe Flacco on injured reserve

The Baltimore Ravens were awarded quarterback Jimmy Clausen off waivers from the Chicago Bears. They placed quarterback Joe Flacco on injured reserve after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament against the St. Louis Rams. Clausen, who played for Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman with the Bears last season, will back up Matt Schaub. Clausen started once and appeared in four games under Trestman last year for the Bears, completing 54.2 percent of his passes with two touchdowns and an interception. He played twice this year with one start and completed 23 of 40 passes with an interception. The Ravens tried to sign David Fales, as did the 49ers, off the Bears' practice squad, but he was promoted to the Bears' active roster.
