Ravens' Birk will return next season
Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk will return to the team and plans to play in 2012, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times.
Birk's agent Joe Linta confirmed the news to Wilson, saying, "Matt feels great. The Ravens want him back. We're going to try to work something out with the Ravens before free agency starts."
The Ravens and Birk still have to get together on a contract for the 35-year-old, who is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. But the predicted mass exodus of Ravens retiring will not occur, as Birk, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are all on board with playing in 2012. Only Ricky Williams has announced he will be retiring.
