Ravens' Reed challenges Flacco to step up
Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed issued a challenge of sorts to his quarterback Joe Flacco on Sirius NFL Radio on Tuesday.
Reed said Flacco has to play better this week in the AFC Championship Game against New England than he did in Sunday's 20-13 divisional win over Houston.
The veteran safety didn't mince words in saying that Flacco's performance against Houston could have been better. Flacco was 14 of 27 for 176 yards, but did have two TD passes.
"I don't know how much of the play-calling, he could have made audibles or anything like that, checks or whatnot, man, but it just didn't look like he had a hold on the offense, you know, of times past," Reed said. "You know, it was just kind of like they was telling him to do, throw the ball or get it here, you know, get it to certain guys. And he can't play like that."
The Ravens defense has long been the dominant force on the team, but even Reed knows the offense will have to contribute some points to compete with Tom Brady and the Patriots on Sunday.
