Ravens' Reed to try to return on Sunday

From Jason La Canfora of NFL.com:

Ravens safety Ed Reed, who has been out four games with a hip/groin problem, will try to play Sunday at Oakland barring any setbacks, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Reed, a former Defensive Player of the Year, had been unable to practice or run normally last week, but began feeling better during warm-ups before the game against the Steelers. Prior to that, there had been some concern on Reed’s part that the pain would not dissipate to the point where he would be able to play again this season.

A win in Oakland would assure Baltimore of a playoff spot. Reed, who has played all season managing a neck condition as well, is a turnover-machine and is also a star in the return game when asked to drop back in that role. Baltimore’s secondary has suffered numerous injuries this season — see Fabian Washington and Lardarius Webb – leaving the club vulnerable in pass defense.
