Ravens showing interest in Brandon Flowers
The Ravens are among 10 teams to have checked in on recently-released cornerback Brandon Flowers, according to a report from The Baltimore Sun.
Flowers was cut this past weekend by the Kansas City Chiefs. He was carrying a $10.5 million salary cap for the upcoming season. Flowers has been a standout for the Chiefs for the past six seasons and is probably now the top free agent cornerback available.
“We appreciate Brandon’s contributions to the team over the last six seasons,” Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said in a statement last Friday. “It’s in the best interest of the club and the player to part ways at this time. We wish him nothing but the best as he continues his career."
The Ravens do have a need for a third cornerback with Corey Graham signing with Buffalo early this offseason. If the Ravens don't sign anyone from free agency, then it will become a competition between Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson.
The Ravens will begin their mandatory minicamp on Tuesday and are trying out veteran cornerbacks Aaron Ross and Drayton Florence, The Sun also reports.
Ross has played the majority of his career with the Giants and Florence has bounced around to numerous teams.
