Ravens' Webb in walking boot

Turf toe giveth; turf toe taketh away.

The Baltimore Ravens got good news on Wednesday that veteran linebacker Ray Lewis looks finally ready to return from a turf toe injury that has kept him out for the past month.

But there was bad news concerning the Ravens defense, as cornerback Lardarius Webb was in a walking boot Wednesday due to a similar turf toe injury. In a worst-case scenario, Webb might miss the remainder of the regular season with the toe problem. For now, Webb is hoping somehow he can get back in the lineup. Even missing Sunday night's game in San Diego is not something he wants think about.

"I hope not, I don't want to (sit out)," Webb told the Carroll County Times. "I'm doing everything I can do to get back on the field. I'm going to treatment right now. It would hurt me if I'm on the sidelines and somebody else is playing."

The "somebody else" would be rookie Jimmy Smith, who has been playing in the Ravens' nickel package.
