Ray Rice gets arraignment date

Ravens running back Ray Rice's aggravated assault case now has a scheduled arraignment date of April 28 at 8:45 a.m. in Atlantic City, N.J., according to The Baltimore Sun.

Rice is facing a third-degree charge which can carry a sentence from three to five years in prison. However, since Rice has no priors, it's expected that he will avoid jail time.

This arraignment date stems from an alleged asault that took place at Revel Casino in Atlantic City on Feb. 15. Rice is accused of striking his then-fiancée Janay Palmer, now his wife, and rendering her unconscious. Authorities have previously stated they have the incident on tape.

Rice is coming off of his worst season as a starting running back. In 15 games that he appeared in, Rice finished the year with 660 yards and four touchdowns. His legal issue has only made matters worse for his public image, which was mostly positive before this.

At the NFL owners' meetings, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said Rice will definitely be with the franchise for the 2014 season.
