Red Bryant stays in Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks are probably not going to be able to retain tight end John Carlson, who is visiting Kansas City.

But they have kept a major piece in their defense in place. Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network reported that the Seahawks have re-signed veteran defensive end Red Bryant. He’s a big piece of the defense’s front and he comes at a big price. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the five-year deal iw worth $35 million and includes $14.5 million guaranteed.

So, the Seahawks have managed to keep running back Marshawn Lynch and now Bryant in a week’s time. That’s a productive start to free agency when you can invest in your own players who are core members of the locker room.
