Redskins add another, sign TE Sean Ryan

At some point, you have to wonder if Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan have Daniel Snyder, the owner, tied up and hidden in a closet somewhere at Redskins Park. You know, in an office without those outrageous alligator desks.

Because the Washington Redskins continue to practice a prudent approach to free agency, leaving the big spending for, well, the McCaskeys.

Washington has struck again though, reeling in veteran tight end Sean Ryan on a one-year contract, the club announced. In six seasons, Ryan has appeared in 53 games and made 15 starts, catching 14 passes over 10 games last season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s also made stops in San Francisco, New Orleans, Miami and with the New York Jets and was an original draft pick of Dallas in 2004.

Ryan is the second free-agent addition for the Redskins, who struck first with a journeyman guard, Artis Hicks. Times, indeed, are changing.
