Redskins fire Mike Shanahan
The Washington Redskins have fired coach Mike Shanahan today, the team announced.
The Redskins have now released a statement from owner Daniel Snyder. "Redskins fans deserve a better result, Snyder said. "We thank Mike for his efforts on behalf of the Redskins. We will focus on what it takes to build a winning team, and my pledge to this organization and to this community."
Shanahan went 3-13 and met with Snyder today.
"I get a chance to talk to Dan tomorrow," Shanahan said after losing to the New York Giants on Sunday. "After I talk to Dan, I'll talk to you guys. We meet tomorrow morning."
Shanahan will make $7 million in 2014 under the final year of his contract.
He clashed with Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III.
