Redskins place Chris Horton on IR

The Washington Redskins have place safety Chris Horton on injured reserve, the result of an ankle injury he suffered in the Oct. 31 game at Detroit.

Undrafted rookie free agent safety Anderson Russell has been promoted from the practice squad to take his place.

Russell becomes the fourth undrafted free agent to make the 53-man roster this season, a sign of how much the roster is turning over under general manager Bruce Allen and coach Mike Shanahan. It’s a sign of opportunity, and certainly running back Keiland Williams and wide receiver Brandon Banks have already taken advantage of their similar opportunities.
