Redskins sign free-agent DB Macho Harris
The Washington Redskins have signed safety Macho Harris and promoted running back James Davis from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Harris, a Virgina Tech product, made eight starts as a rookie last season for the Philadelphia Eagles. He will help out an injury-depleted secondary that took another hit when the team placed rookie safety Anderson Russell on injured reserve. He suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in Sunday’s overtime win at Tennessee.
Harris played cornerback in college and was converted by the Eagles. He was moved back to cornerback during training camp but was among the team’s final roster cuts. He’s had multiple tryouts around the league since. Whether or not he plays soon remains to be seen. LaRon Landry is ailing with a sore Achilles tendon.
The Redskins also signed running back Kestahn Moore to the practice squad. Running back Chad Simpson was also placed on injured reserve.
