Redskins trim Andre Carter
Derrick Dockery wasn’t the only member of the Washington Redskins to get sent packing today.</p>
Defensive end Andre Carter was also cut loose after a season in which he struggled to make the transition to being an outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme. Carter becomes the third high-profile player released in two days as the Redskins began purging Monday when running back Clinton Portis was released.
Carter, a favorite of former defensive coordinator Greg Blache, was owed a bonus this offseason of $4.075 million, according to the Washington Post. The 10-year veteran likely can help someone. He had 11 sacks in 2009 when he was also credited with helping bring along rookie Brian Orakpo.
