Redskins will bring Cam Newton in for a visit
Cam Newton has an official visit lined up with the Washington Redskins.
Newton will travel to Ashburn, Va., for a meeting with the Redskins on April 15, according to the Washington Post, as they strive to get a closer look at the Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn.
Newton has eight official visits lined up, per the report, including the Carolina Panthers, who hold the No. 1 overall pick. The Redskins have an unsettled quarterback situation. The belief is they will trade Donovan McNabb or release the veteran. That would leave Rex Grossman as the starter unless the team gets a high draft pick to compete for the job.
The Redskins hold the 10th pick in the draft. Newton’s stock is hard to gauge right now. Because so many teams are in the market for a passer, he might not make it that far.
