Reed says holdout is player's only leverage

Ed Reed didn't say he was planning to hold out of the Baltimore Ravens' training camp, but he also didn't say he wouldn't.

Reed said on 105.7 FM The Fan in Baltimore via the Carroll County Times that "The only way a player gets what he wants is by holding out."

Reed, 33, was absent from all the Ravens' off-season work, including mandatory mini-camps, and indications are that he would like a new contract from the club as he enters the final year of his current deal with a $7.2 million base salary.

Reed might have to stand in line to get his new deal as the Ravens are in talks with franchised running back Ray Rice and also are hoping to sign quarterback Joe Flacco to an extension as well.
