Reggie Wayne motivated by media criticism

Reggie Wayne is motivated to show that even after coming off a torn ACL at the age of 35, he still has plenty left to prove.

Speaking to the Indianapolis Star, Wayne said he's noticed that folks in the media are doubting his skills at this time in his NFL career.

"You guys motivate me,'' Wayne said. "You guys say that I can't do it. I'm 35. I'm over the hill. No way I can come back the same. I wasn't a big newspaper reader, but now I've become one. Hopefully I can get you guys to sing another tune. Next time I read it, maybe you guys will be saying I've found the fountain of youth.''

Last year, it didn't look like he was losing a step or that he was too old. He had 503 yards and two touchdowns in seven games, which would have put him on pace for over 1,000 yards.

Wayne has been with the Colts his entire 13 NFL seasons. He's caught 1,006 passes for 13,566 yards and 80 touchdowns. According to the Star story, Wayne expects to be cleared to resume contact when the Colts begin Phase One of their offseason program.
