Report: Adrian Peterson indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child
This NFL season has started with the focus being on a lot of off-field matters as opposed to the games themselves.
On Friday, that trend has continued. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who ran for over 2,000 yards two seasons ago, has been indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child, according to a report from FOX 26 in Houston.
This is yet another serious case involving a high-profile NFL star. According to the NFL Network, the case stems from Peterson disciplining his son with a switch.
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer told reporters on Thursday that Peterson's absence from practice was due to a veteran day.
This most certainly caps the worst week in NFL history. With Peterson's case most certainly set to unfold in front of the national eye, the league is already dealing with how horrible it handled Ray Rice's domestic violence case, especially after a video emerged to the public on Monday showing him punching his now-wife in the face.
The NFL's focus has been anywhere but the playing field, it seems. And with Peterson now in trouble with the law, that doesn't appear to be changing any time soon.
