Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is in South Dakota after his 2-year-old son was beaten severely by a man dating the child's mother, according to a repot from TMZ.

TMZ also reported that 27-year-old Joseph Patterson was arrested in the incident. Peterson's son is in a South Dakota hospital and is in critical condition.

Reportedly, Peterson's son sustained head injuries as a result of the abuse.
