Report: Arizona's Berry fined for hit on Rodgers
If a penalty was called on Bertrand Berry for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Aaron Rodgers, there would be no disputed non-call of a facemask penalty.
Heck, maybe they would still be playing in the desert.
The NFL seemed to at least, in part, acknowledge one oversight by the officiating crew when it fined Berry, the Arizona defensive lineman, $5,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on the second play of overtime according to Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Had a penalty been assessed to Berry on the play, it would have wiped out a holding penalty on Packers lineman Daryn Colledge and resulted in second-and-10 being replayed.
The NFL did not fine Arizona defensive back Michael Adams for a facemask infraction on the game’s final play when replays clearly showed he made contact with Rodgers’ facemask.
Green Bay fans will likely be debating the sequence of plays until the tundra thaws.
