Report: Austin will have perfect attendance rest of offseason

Miles Austin passed on the first two weeks of workouts in the voluntary offseason program in Dallas, but he’s vowed to have perfect attendance the rest of the way.

The restricted free agent wide receiver will sign his tender offer of $3.168 million today, according to ESPN Dallas, and plans to be in town as the team begins preparations for the 2010 season.

Of course, at some point Jerry Jones is going to have to open the vault for Austin and pay him more than Roy Williams is getting. His position was certainly bolstered by the $47.5 million deal that Brandon Marshall received from the Miami Dolphins. Now, it’s simply a waiting game for Austin, who exploded last season for the Cowboys.

"I would love it really, but that's stuff I can't control," Austin said. "I can just go out and be a player and play as hard as I can. That's what I love to do."

There was some buzz about Austin missing the first two weeks at Valley Ranch, but he said it had nothing to do with his contract and he was more comfortable at the time working out with a personal trainer in Los Angeles.

"I was out in L.A. working. To be honest, I was really working hard,” he said. “I came back the lightest I've ever been (207 pounds), in shape already. I'm feeling really good and looking forward to the year."

He’s also got to be looking forward to his contract. It’s only a matter of time.
