Report: Bill Parcells to the Saints has been discussed

The buzz was there last week when the National Football Post reported on Thursday that those in NFL coaching circles were talking about the possibility of Bill Parcells riding to the rescue of Sean Payton.

Some league insiders were suggesting Parcells would be the man the Saints would approach about leading the franchise while Payton is suspended for the 2012 season beginning on April 1.

Now, that’s happened. According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Payton “broached the idea” of Parcells taking over the Saints on an interim basis. It’s a complicated issue and no one can say at this point if it will happen. But where there is smoke, there has turned out to be some fire. Mortesen says Payton is still considering an appeal to the stiff sentence he received from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Stay tuned on this one.
