Report: Buccaneers to cut Revis if unable to trade him

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are planning to cut cornerback Darrelle Revis if they are unsuccessful in trading him prior to Wednesday afternoon, according to ESPN.

Revis has a $1.5 million roster bonus due Wednesday.

Should the Buccaneers retain Revis on their roster by after 4 p.m. Wednesday, then the New York Jets get a third-round pick instead of the fourth-round draft pick traded last year.

So, the Buccaneers are expected to attempt to trade Revis.

Under this scenario, the Jets would wind up with a fourth-round raqther than the third-rounder.

Revis is due a $16 million base salary.

Per the report, the Buccaneers haven't gotten anywhere on a restructure attempt.
