Report: Bucs losing patience with Jets on Revis

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly losing their patience with the New York Jets in trade talks to acquire cornerback Darrelle Revis.

That is the second time we’ve seen this come out and this time Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports provides more details. According to his report, the Bucs are willing to pony up first-, third- and sixth-round draft picks in exchange for Revis. Cole also reports the Bucs are comfortable paying Revis in the range of $15 million to $16 million per season in a long-term contract.

So, what’s the holdup? Who knows. The Jets don’t have another serious suitor for Revis, who is still rehabilitating from a torn ACL. The Bucs could choose to wait for Revis to his free agency next offseason and then not have to fork over the draft picks.

A divorce between the Jets and Revis seems likely. What’s less certain is if the Jets will be able to do better than the reported offer from Tampa. The longer this drags out, maybe the Bucs opt to head in another direction.
