Report: Cardinals called about Big Ben
Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt has checked in on his former quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger.
John Clayton of ESPN reported on KTAR-AM 620 in Phoenix that the Arizona Cardinals have checked in with the Steelers on troubled two-time Super Bowl winner Big Ben, who was suspended on Wednesday for six games by commissioner Roger Goodell for violation of the personal conduct policy.
That suspension can be reduced to four games if Roethlisberger follows certain guidelines, including getting underaged college girls roaring drunk. Four games into the season the Cardinals could be done with the Matt Leinart Era, so it makes sense for Arizona to explore the situation.
The Steelers, wisely, are seeking a high pick for Roethlisberger and the Cardinals do not select until No. 26. It’s a little hard to imagine Roethlisberger sticking in the ’Burgh at this point, but seeing him playing for the Bidwill family is also a little difficult to imagine. They are a conservative bunch and Roethlisberger’s image isn’t doing so good right now. Still, the reunion of Whisenhunt and Roethlisberger makes complete sense. Can it happen? We’ll see.
