Report: Chiefs' Jackson reworks contract
Defensive end Tyson Jackson has restructured his contract, lowering his base salary from $8.5 million in 2012 to $4.25 million, according to Mac's Football Blog.
Jackson was the third overall pick in the 2009 draft and had triggered an escalator clause that jumped his 2012 base from just over $2.5 million to $8.05 million. In terms of lowering the base, $4 million of that is guaranteed for this year.
Jackson's base salary for 2013 is still $14.72 million and the deal has been reworked to remove the 2014 season from the salary cap.
