Report: Cowboys will not join Redskins in fight over cap penalties

If the Washington Redskins take aim at the NFL and challenge the salary-cap penalties levied against them last year, don’t look for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys to join their battle.

The NFL penalized the Redskins and Cowboys a year ago for treating the uncapped year in 2010 like it was, well, uncapped. The Redskins received a much harsher penalty, losing $36 million in cap space split over 2012 and 2013. The Cowboys lost only $10 million over the two seasons.

It was reported Monday that the Redskins are considering seeking a court injunction that could delay the start of free agency March 12. The Cowboys will not be in the battle with Daniel Snyder and the Redskins.

We are not involved and we won't become involved," a Cowboys source said told Ed Werder of ESPN.

So, Snyder and the Redskins will act alone if they choose to take on the league – and 31 other owners.
