Report: Drew Rosenhaus offered cash to lure Dez Bryant

High-profile agent Drew Rosenhaus has been accused of making potential violations of NFLPA regulations by allegedly offering cash to an adviser of Dez Bryant in effort to land the wide receiver when he came out in the 2010 draft.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports David Wells says Rosenhaus offered him money and a trip to Miami to deliver Bryant.

As potential evidence, Wells offered up four text messages from Rosenhaus:

*** Dec. 16, 2009, Rosenhaus wrote in a text to Wells: “Also will have 10K for you to give to your community center..”
*** Dec. 17, 2009, Rosenhaus wrote in another text: “Dnt [sic] mean to put pressure but we want this bad ! Were ready to put u on a private jet and get this done.. Miami’s callllinnnnnggggg!!!”
*** Dec. 21, 2009, after Wells said he did not respond to Rosenhaus’ text messages, the agent wrote by text: “Never heard back my man.. We raised the guarantee … You’ll be happy..”
*** Jan. 3, 2010, Rosenhaus wrote in a text: “Whatever it takes man … whatever … Just give us a shot.”

In an interview with Cole, Rosenhaus said “no comment” to 11 questions and shed very little light on the situation. It remains to be seen if the nature of Rosenhaus’ actions are currently punishable by the NFLPA.

Wells told Cole he came forward because he believes the system in place “takes advantage of athletes, particularly African-American athletes.”

Rosenhaus is embattled right now as he faces financial claims from a company employee, Danny Martoe.
