Report: Eagles on verge of dealing Asante Samuel
The Philadelphia Eagles are on the verge of completing a deal they’ve worked on for some time.
Barring something unexpected, the team will trade veteran cornerback Asante Samuel to the Atlanta Falcons today, according to NFL.com.
Samuel, who the Eagles have been working to move since they added Nnamdi Asomugha last summer, will reportedly rework the remaining two years on his contract. That likely means he’s in store for a pay reduction of what was non-guaranteed money. The Falcons are expected to give Philadelphia a late-round draft pick.
Atlanta has had issues at cornerback over the last few seasons and Samuel provides depth to add to Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes. Samuel, 31, is a four-time Pro Bowl performer.
