Today's victory assured that Norv Turner will get a contract extension, perhaps right after the regular season ends.

There really was no doubt Turner would have his current pact, which is due to expire after next season, extended anyway. But there was the thought among the team's decision makers that if the Chargers were to collapse over the final four games the extension could be put off.

After today's 20-17 victory, however, team sources assured me that Turner will get the extension after the season.

With three games to play, the Chargers are one victory from clinching a playoff berth. A win by the Chargers over Cinciannati next Sunday and loss by Denver against Oakland would clinch the No. 2 seed and AFC West.
