Report: Giants agree to terms with LB Keith Rivers
The New York Giants liked Keith Rivers enough to trade for him last April.
Now, they are bringing him back for the 2013 season, agreeing to terms with the free-agent linebacker on a one-year contract, according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Rivers played in 11 games last season for the Giants and made six starts. The Giants forked over a fifth-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals, who drafted him the first round out of USC in 2008. Rivers was credited with 44 tackles last season.
The Giants have been proceeding with caution in the free-agent market but have some depth issues at linebacker. Thus, it was wise to bring Rivers, 26, back and on a one-year deal he has an opportunity to prove himself and perhaps earn a multi-year contract following the season.
