Report: Giants cut LB Pierce
Change is in the air for the New York Giants and those winds have swept linebacker Antonio Pierce straight out of the organization.
A little more than two years after being a central figure on a defense that helped lead the franchise to a Super Bowl championship, Pierce has been released, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Pierce was placed on injured reserve this past season with a neck injury. He helped stabilize the position when he arrived from the Washington Redskins in 2005. Pierce was present when teammate Plaxico Burress shot himself at a Manhattan night club, and transported Burress to the hospital and then took the gun. He’s now taking the fall in New York.
