Report: Giants 'have not ruled out' Brandon Jacobs

The New York Giants cut ties with one of the running backs that last helped them to a Super Bowl victory, Ahmad Bradshaw.

Another that left before Bradshaw has a chance – however small – of returning.

The New York Post reports the door is cracked – not wide open – for a potential return for Brandon Jacobs. The veteran declined a steep pay cut last season to remain with the franchise and then was cut. Ultimately, he was signed by the San Francisco 49ers. He didn’t make it through the season in San Francisco, getting suspended and then released.

According to the report, the Giants "have not ruled out” re-signing Jacobs, who rushed for 4,849 yards as a member of the organization. There have not been any contract talks and Jacobs will almost certainly have to wait until after the draft to find a new home. Per the Post, he recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram as a Giant running over a New England Patriots defender.

“Trying to get back in this uniform,” Jacobs wrote.

It’s probably going to be tough for Jaconbs to land anywhere. But at least for him the Giants have not crossed him off their list. Getting signed and making a 53-man roster could be two different things for him as well.
