Report: Giants' Sheridan expected to be fired

From NYDailyNews.com:

MINNEAPOLIS - Bill Sheridan's first season as Giants defensive coordinator almost certainly will be his last.

Though Tom Coughlin hasn't announced his intentions, several players, coaches and members of the organization all told the Daily News Sunday they expect Sheridan to be fired in the next few days. That's hardly a shock, since the team surrendered 427 points this year - the most since giving up 501 in 1966.

Still, Sheridan does have support from several players. Defensive tackle Barry Cofield insisted he "saw a lot of good things" from Sheridan, even though he also said that for the defense the season was "a disaster."

"I think he has some good intangibles," Cofield said. "He can do some things right. First-year rookie players aren't expected to light the world on fire a lot of times but coaches don't get that leeway."
