Report: Hall, Haslett have heated exchange
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett had a heated exchange on Sunday that led to Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan meeting with the player and then singling him out in a team meeting, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
Per the report, Hall felt he was receiving mixed instructions from Haslett and defensive backs coach Bob Slowik about a specific coverage in the team’s scheme. It’s not new. Hall has spoken out about the defense already once this season.
In the team meeting, Reid wrote that Shanahan said there needed to be better communication among players and coaches. Shanahan singled out Hall in the meeting. Hall declined to speak with reporters in Wednesday.
It’s reported that Hall and Haslett have a strong relationship, and the belief is the issue will not linger. What has been lingering is a back issue for Hall, which has forced him to play with pain for a number of weeks.
We’ll see how the 32nd-ranked defense performs on Sunday when it meets the discombobulated Chicago Bears’ offense at Soldier Field.
