Report: Haynesworth optimistic after chats with teammates

Albert Haynesworth has reportedly returned to Northern Virginia for the start of training camp with the Washington Redskins.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post tweets that Haynesworth is “optimistic after several good conversations with teammates. He's ready to work.”

Whether he’s ready to be the nose tackle in the team’s new 3-4 scheme remains to be seen. If he’s in shape and willing to embrace his new role, perhaps Mike Shanahan and Jim Haslett will be able to make this work, at least for this season. But Haynesworth is going to have to win over his teammates first. He boycotted the entire offseason program – including a mandatory minicamp – and teammates have made very public and very critical comments about him. That has created an uneasy situation, but not an impossible one. Stay tuned.
