Report: Hernandez arrest warrant issued

The Aaron Hernandez case just took a Ray Lewis-type turn, according to Fox 25 in Boston, which reported that an arrest warrant was issued on the New England Patriots tight end for obstruction of justice Friday morning.

Hernandez's associate, Odin Lloyd, was killed and investigators are treating his death as a homicide. Police have searched Hernandez's home and have evidence that he, Lloyd and two other men were together at a bar and left together in an SUV on the night of Lloyd's death.

According to various reports, the video surveillance system in Hernandez's home was destroyed, as was his cellphone.

Obstruction of justice, of course, is eventually what Lewis entered a plea to following the Super Bowl in Atlanta in 2000 when two men were stabbed to death following a fight. Lewis and two members of his party were originally charged with the murders, but testified against the other two in exchange for his plea, and the other defendants were acquitted.
