Report: Jets will look at Geno Smith in 2nd
The New York Jets were rumored to possibly have interest in Geno Smith at No. 9 and No. 13, their two picks in the first round.
But that didn't happen, as the Jets opted for defense with both selections, picking Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner and then defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson of Missouri.
But the Jets weren't alone in passing up Smith, who went through the entire first round undrafted. In fact, the West Virginia quarterback left the green room at the draft and went home. Perhaps he should have stuck around, because Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News says the Jets will take a hard look at Smith with their second-round pick (No. 39 overall). UPDATE: Reports are now that Smith will return for the second day of the draft.
The Jets have been collecting quarterbacks, adding David Garrard to go with Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Greg McElroy and Matt Simms.
There is also the possibility that Smith could be gone before the Jets pick again at 39, as the Jaguars and Eagles are potential suitors for him, according to various reports and speculation.
