Report: Jonathan Vilma recovering following knee surgery

Jonathan Vilma has missed the last two games with the New Orleans Saints after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that despite denials from the team, an NFL source told the newspaper that Vilma indeed did undergo surgery. He was inactive for Sunday’s overtime victory at Atlanta that came courtesy of Mike “The Gambler” Smith.

Vilma had been hampered for weeks and he was also sidelined last week when the Saints played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So, while the Saints have been mighty open with the media about the knee surgery coach Sean Payton had – someone even provided medical results to Fox – they’ve been hush-hush when it comes to the veteran linebacker.

Vilma has been so scarce he did not attend the fundraising dinner his foundation put on last week.
