Report: Josh Freeman has dropped 20 pounds
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggled on offense in quarterback Josh Freeman’s second season and while no one has blamed it on his weight, he’s certainly in different shape now.
Freeman has lost at least 20 pounds, according to Bucs general manager Mark Dominik, who shared the information with Steve Wyche of NFL.com.
“You've seen a guy who's completely committed to getting his season back on track and hitting the reset button and getting his game back to hopefully to more of what we saw in 2010 as a young 22-year-old," Dominik told the Web site. “The last couple years, he's been playing around 255-260. Right now, he's sitting downstairs weighing about 235-238.
“He's getting his body right, working on getting more mobility and better conditioned and buying in, heart and soul.”
According to Dominik, the weight loss initiative was Freeman’s and it wasn’t a directive he received from the staff. The quarterback struggled with accuracy and interceptions last season, not necessarily something you would blame on him playing heavy. But if this makes him a little more elusive in the pocket, it will be a good thing.
