Report: Justin Houston likely to report to training camp on time

Kansas City fans need not to worry: Justin Houston will more than likely be there for the start of training camp.

The star pass-rusher skipped OTAs and minicamp as he enters the final year of his contract. He's slated to earn $1.4 million this season, which ranks near the bottom of Kansas City's starters on defense.

But according to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Houston will report, most likely because he has to if he wants to be an unrestricted free agent in 2015 (though he could still be at risk for getting the franchise tag). The CBA requires that players report to the team 30 days prior to the opening game if they want to accrue a full season. If Houston held out and did not report in time, he would be in danger of being forced to spend his contract year again in Kansas City.

That's motivation enough to report. Because if Kansas City decides not to pay up, Houston can delay his pay day until next offseason, when a team will surely spend a lot of money on one of the NFL's better up-and-coming pass rushers.
