Report: LaRon Landry on the mend from toe surgery
Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry underwent surgery on his toe last month but is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp, according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
Landry was slowed for the final month of the team’s offseason program and had a successful procedure on June 23 in North Carolina. Many NFL players seek out Dr. Robert Anderson of Charlotte, N.C., for foot issues. It’s not known if he is the surgeon who worked on Landry.
It’s important that Landry is ready to go at the start of training camp as the Redskins work to install new coordinator Jim Haslett’s 3-4 defense (with or without Albert Haynesworth). Landry is making the transition from free safety to strong safety, probably a good move given some of his deficiencies in coverage over the last two seasons.
