Report: Lions' Ko Simpson signs his RFA tender
Ko Simpson is back in the fold for the Detroit Lions.
The veteran safety has signed his tender as a restricted free agent, reports John Niyo of the Detroit News. Simpson stands to earn $1.176 million this season.
The Lions picked Simpson up in a September trade, sending a seventh-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for him. He gave them a veteran presence in the back end to help bring along talented rookie Louis Delmas. Simpson started five games but was lost for the season and wound up having microfracture surgery on his knee.
The Lions’ defense has really turned over in the 15 months Jim Schwartz has been on the job. Simpson will need to compete for his job to not soon be part of the turnover himself.
