Report: Manning gets medical clearance

Peyton Manning has been given medical clearance to resume his NFL career, sources have told

Manning, who is coming off his third neck surgery, has received the OK from two doctors, including Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed his latest surgery.

Now, it appears that Manning's obstacle to playing in 2012 is his arm strength and how soon, if at all, the nerves in that right arm will regenerate to allow him to throw with velocity and effectiveness similar to before the surgery.

Perhaps it is fitting that Manning gets his news of a breakthrough on Groundhog Day after months and months of the same thing over and over of no change, much like Bill Murray's character in the "Groundhog Day."
