Report: McKinnie must reimburse NFL for Pro Bowl trip

Sounds like the NFL didn’t buy the idea that Bryant McKinnie was too injured, too sick, too tired or anything else to play in the Pro Bowl.

Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that NFL has ruled McKinnie will forfeit his check for the all-star game of $22,500, the losing share of a game he didn’t play in. The league will also require McKinnie to reimburse it $4,285.13 for expenses from before he was dismissed from the NFC squad last month in Miami.

McKinnie skipped practices and meetings yet was very open on his personal Twitter account about the social schedule he was keeping during the week.

According to the report, the league’s Competition Committee will review the issue to “determine whether additional steps should be taken to deter this type of conduct at the Pro Bowl in the future.” They could call it the McKinnie Rule.
