Report: NFL officiating boss agreed with Giants' non-fumble call

The NFL doesn’t have an issue with the controversial ruling on the field Sunday that New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz did not fumble after he went down head-first as the offense drove for the game-winning score.

Accoring to a report by Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, Carl Johnson, the NFL’s vice president of officiating, agreed with the call made by officials on the field that Cruz had given himself up, effectively declaring himself down. Cruz lost the ball after he went down and the Cardinals secured the ball.

A source told Garafolo that Johnson agreed with the call even though Fox analyst Mike Pereira, the former head of officiating, disagreed with the ruling during the broadcast.

Eli Manning threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks on the next play.
