Report: Nnamdi Asomugha visiting 49ers

Earlier in his career, Nnamdi Asomugha was a star for the Oakland Raiders, considered at a time to be the finest shutdown corner in the NFL.

Now, perhaps he will resurrect his career on the other side of the Bay.

After two seasons in Philadelphia that were not up to his standard, Asomugha will visit the San Francisco 49ers today, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. The Eagles cut Asomugha earlier this week.

According to Maiocco, the 49ers are looking for a bigger cornerback and Asomugha fits the profile at 6-2, 210 pounds. Considering he played at Cal, it might be the right fit for him.

The Niners will also meet with safety Louis Delmas, who has been making the rounds, as they need to fill a void at safety after Dashon Goldson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Charles Woodson has already visited the Niners. While Woodson is older, Delmas has durability concerns due to ongoing knee issues.
