Report: No announcement of deal coming today

Although both sides continue to make substantial progress toward a labor deal that could get most or even all training camps opened on time, an agreement is not expected today.

Daniel Kaplan of Sports Business Journal, who has been closely following the labor situation, reprted via his Twitter account that he would told there are no plans for announcement today. Many have pointed to July 15 for more than a month as a natural date for a deal as reporting dates for training camps are rapidly approaching.

“Caught up with nflprguy at stakeout, told me no plans for (announcement) today,” Kaplan tweeted. “Points out lot left to do.”

The sides are meeting again in New York. With owners scheduled to meet Thursday in Atlanta, a deal would need to be in place before then to be ratified at the meeting. Stay tuned.
