Report: Owners' proposal 'split the difference'

We will find out soon enough of the players of the National Football League have truly moved to decertify their union in a Minnesota court room.

Right now, it looks like it could be headed that way. Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports reports that the owners made a proposal that “split the difference.” What exactly that means, well, hopefully we’ll learn that soon too. A source told the National Football Post on Thursday that the sides were roughly $600 million apart. If a new proposal today split that difference, you’re now looking at a $300 million difference, or more than a quarter-billion dollars.

Per Silver, the NFLPA did not make a counter offer and was headed to court. The clock will strike 12 soon. Do the players and owners really want to see this thing head to litigation? Stay tuned.
