Report: Packers close to signing Bulaga
The Green Bay Packers figure to have everyone ready for training camp as the team is close to getting first-round draft pick Bryan Bulaga under contract.
Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that “extensive talks” this week between the team’s agent and Bulaga have the club close to striking a deal for the offensive tackle. Bulaga was the 23rd overall pick, one slot before Dez Bryant. The Packers have Bryant’s completed deal to work off of and it shouldn’t be tough to complete it before the first practice on Saturday afternoon.
Silverstein projects that Bulaga will receive a deal worth roughly $11.8 million with about $8.4 million guaranteed. When the Packers get Bulaga signed and announce the official signing of veteran safety Atari Bigby, who sat out the offseason program without signing his tender as a restricted free agent, they will have to make two roster moves to make room because they currently have 82 players.
